The elimination of mother-to-child transmission (EMTCT) of HIV remains a core public health objective in Nigeria due to the high burden of paediatric infections and persistent transmission gaps. Despite global advances in prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), Nigeria continues to register new infant HIV cases largely due to complex socio-cultural, economic, and health system challenges.
